Get cheap car insurance quotes
Simple Steps to Get Cheap Car Insurance Quotes:
Is As Easy As 1-2-3!

Every driver wants to get cheap car insurance quotes, but not all of us manage to do this. We may save some money, but not as much as we could. This is partly down to the fact that there are hundreds of car insurance companies out there fighting to get your business, so it can be hard to find the time to find the best quote for cheap car insurance. And, many people are simply bamboozled by the way that cheap car insurance policies work, so they don't understand how to choose the right options to cut their costs.

But, there are basically only three steps you need to follow to find and get cheap car insurance quotes. Master these three steps and you—and your cheap car insurance—should be laughing all the way to the bank!

Step One: Make your insurer feel warm and fuzzy about you

Cheap car insurance is all about risk—the bigger a risk you (and your car!) are seen as being by an insurer, the more they'll charge you for insurance. So, think about what you can tell them that makes you look safer. For example:

  • Think about the car you drive. Insurance classifications on cars are arranged into 20 groups. If your car is in a high number group then you'll pay more. Get in a low group and you'll pay less.

  • Be seen to be responsible. Be careful to protect your no-claims bonuses as these tell the cheap car insurance company that you haven't had an accident so you'll get discount rewards. Also, take an advanced driving course to show that you are a good driver.

  • Look after your vehicle. Make sure to fit safety devices such as alarms, trackers, and immobilisers where you can. Try and garage your car as well as this makes it harder for car thieves to steal it.

  • Look at your mileage. If you don't drive much, the cheap car insurance company may give you a low mileage discount. After all, if you're not driving the car then you can't have an accident!

Step Two: Think about what you need

The features offered in even standard cheap car insurance quotes may all look good on paper, but do you really need them? You could cut costs and find a cheap car insurance policy by opting out of some of them. For example:

  • The courtesy car. Is a courtesy car essential to you if your car is being repaired? If not, why pay for it?

  • The breakdown service. Do you need to have breakdown cover included in your policy? You may actually have to pay an extra fee if you use this feature, so it might be cheaper to simply join a breakdown service instead.

  • Personal belongings. Will you really get your money back if your personal belongings are stolen from your car? Once the excess comes into play, you may not actually get the real value back. So, to get cheap car insurance, you could simply get in the habit of not leaving them in the car in the first place!

  • The excess. The excess is the amount of money that you will have to pay if you make a claim; the insurer should then pay the rest. If possible, look to take a higher voluntary excess as this can cut the costs of your premiums.

Step Three: Shop around for cheap car insurance – especially online

Once you have worked out how to make yourself look like a good risk and established what cheap car insurance policy features are essential, then you are ready to look for lower cost quotes. Don't make a knee-jerk reaction and simply go with a 'big name' insurer or the first reasonable quote that you get - SHOP AROUND!

  • Take some time. Try and leave enough time to actually compare cheap car insurance quotes. You can do this via search mechanisms quite easily online so there really is no excuse! Doing this simply keeps your own money in your own pocket.

  • Look for discounts. Many insurance companies will give you a percentage discount on premium costs if you buy online.

So, follow these three simple steps to find cheap car insurance quotes and you'll find that you really can boast that you have cheap car insurance! Remember, you may have to spend a little time on finding the best cheap car insurance quotes but, the cheap car insurance policy you find will give you the protection you need at an affordable cost.
